3 Tips To Help Balance Your Hormones

Do you ever experience weight gain, heavy periods, headaches, and mood swings?

Your hormones are always communicating with one another, along with your liver, metabolic system, gut, adrenals, and thyroid because they all play a huge role in hormone health.

Odds are, you won't just have one hormone out of balance, which can make it difficult to understand what's going on in your body. That's why it is important to look at the overall story of what is going on in YOUR body, so you can understand how these things tie together.

Here are just a few tips to help balance your hormones

 1. Lower stress-Chronic stress causes spikes and dips in hormones including cortisol, adrenaline, prolactin, thyroid hormones, and growth hormones. Excess cortisol has been linked to depression, blood sugar problems, reproductive issues, anxiety, and weight gain.

 2. Support your liver & gut-The liver detoxes excess hormones like cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone out of the body, therefore supporting the liver is crucial. A milk thistle supplement helps the liver function more optimally. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and kale, apples, grapefruit, garlic, onions, Jerusalem artichokes, lemons, limes, and berries help support the liver as well.

 3. Balance blood sugar- Caffeine, sugar, and alcohol all cause the blood sugar to swing up high. This causes a high insulin release. And too much insulin can affect other hormones. To keep blood sugar stable, eat regularly with fiber and/or protein. Blood sugar stabilizing foods such as Jerusalem artichokes, cinnamon and legumes can be very helpful. Lowering stress also helps keep blood sugar stable.
