How Stress Wrecks Havoc on the Body



🧘‍♀️ When your body is handling stress well, cortisol is doing its job and we are feeling good but when we have stress that the body cannot handle, we start to see dysfunction in different parts of the body.

🦠 Cortisol will suppress the immune system, digestion, and reproductive organs when we are under stress because they are non-essential during the fight or flight response

☯️Stress can compromise how sex hormones are produced and distributed

😴 If stress is not managed, you may have cloudy thinking, avoid emotional confrontation, have decreased ability to handle stress/pressure, depression, sadness, sleep complaints, joint pain/stiffness

💪 Muscle recovery can be compromised if stress is not being managed

🍭 Stress can lead to cravings, and blood sugar problems

💭 Stress affects the body’s ability to manage toxic load internally and externally, you may notice bad dreams, change in appetite, dark circles under your eyes, consuming excess fruit, grains, and you may have issues with digestion

😵DHEA is the counter-regulatory agent to cortisol, and the most abundant circulating steroid hormone in humans. It is anabolic and promotes the growth and repair of protein, especially muscle tissue. Low DHEA levels are an early warning of adrenal dysfunction due to chronic stress

😞 Having a low cortisol test result may indicate a person is losing the flexibility needed to handle stress and environment and small stressors can put a person over the edge where they can’t handle things like they used to!
